At Junior Cycle students at present take core subjects and four optional subjects for examination purposes. The core subjects are: Irish, English, Mathematics, Geography and History.
Exemption from Irish is given to students who satisfy the criteria laid down in circular M10/94. Students are currently studying Religious Education, P.E., C.S.P.E. and S.P.H.E. as non-examination subjects. From 2019/2020, first year students will also take Wellbeing, Computer Studies and Guidance.
