Welcome to the Scoil Mhuire website.
Scoil Mhuire is a CEIST school in the Mercy tradition.
The core values of CEIST are intended to support and nourish the lives of the people who are at the heart of our school – students, staff and parents. The school acknowledges the dignity of all its members, each formed in the image of God.
Scoil Mhuire is a community where everyone works together to support our students in their learning path.
Scoil Mhuire is a school that is welcoming and vibrant.
Our committed and hardworking staff provides challenge, care, creativity and opportunities for growth to all students, in the classroom and through the wide range of extra-curricular activities on offer.
We seek to nurture the gifts and talents of all so that every person may have the opportunity to achieve her academic and personal goals.
The most recent Department of Education Whole School Inspection in 2023 resulted in an overwhelmingly positive report with the following findings:
· The quality of teaching and learning was very good and reflected the high level of commitment demonstrated by teachers.
· Leadership and management at all levels in the school were of a very high quality, supported by highly effective leadership structures.
· School leaders were responsive to students’ needs and interests, and this was reflected in the breadth of curriculum on offer, which was supported by collaboration with another local school.
· The school provided an excellent range of opportunities for students to develop their leadership capacity.
· Very positive relationships were evident, and care for the needs of each individual student was a priority.
· Supports for students and their well-being were of a very high quality and were a key strength of the school.
We are fortunate to have a dynamic and highly-supportive Board of Management who govern the school with interest and care, and a Parents’ Council who give freely of their time and experience to contribute proactively to support school policy development, school events and activities.
In the 2024 school year, we celebrated the 50th anniversary of Scoil Mhuire on its present site at Greenhill and the 150th anniversary of the arrival of the Mercy Sisters in Carrick on Suir to provide education to the girls of our town.
The rich tradition is alive and well today in Scoil Mhuire thanks to our wonderful school and local community.
Thank you for visiting our website – please call again for updates on our school!
